The virtual folding meetings are a succession of workshops offered by guest origamist artists and teachers or members of the association. They allow you to learn folding techniques, discover techniques and virtually meet other folding processes in a friendly atmosphere.

The workshops will be given in French by the French speakers, in English for the others. Understanding assistance will be available through the Chat.

The virtual meetings will take place this year from June 11 to 13, 2021 on the Zoom platform.

Registration begins on May 27 at 12:00 p.m. (UTC + 2) and ends on June 10 at 9:00 p.m. (UTC + 2).

Please find all the videos (only for attendees and members) at https://mfpp-origami.fr/rvp2021-videos/

Jonathan Rebouillat, Workshop & Talk
Duration : 1h30 ca
Model : Tichodrome échelette
Level : ***
Equipment : Square of watercolor paper 20 cm (Arches 185 g/m2), painted with red acrylic on one face.
Small clothespins, metal clips, masking tape, a glass of water (optional : hairdryer)

My name is Jonathan Rebouillat, I am 31 years old and I live in Ardèche, in a yurt, with my partner and my 10 month old little girl. We live surrounded by forests, birds and wildlife. It is a great joy and an immense source of inspiration to observe them and to forge links with these beings who share this little piece of land with us.

My work on paper is instinctive and meditative, a way of making palpable the emotion that comes over me when I meet an animal. The wet folding technique is a great source of freedom and allows you to simply obtain curves, so present in life all around us.

Hans-Werner Guth, Eifel Bowl
Duration : 1 h 15 ca
Model : Eifel Bowl
Level : **
Equipment :
12 squares (7,5 cm or 10 cm), Assorted colors.
As a child, I folded the salt shaker, flying objects and the water bomb… nothing for 50 years ! In 2004, a heart attack forced me to reduce my working time and in 2008 I rediscovered folding paper. First by folding models published on the web, then modifying some of them by adding or modifying folds, then starting to fold my own ideas. My first published model was Jump, a mixture of curved and straight lines. Then came a Triangular Bag, the Eifel star, the 3D-Maltese cross… I got a lot of help from other Origami “freeks”! Especially from Francis Ow, who often gave me tasks or problems to solve. Best to sit at a table with friends to fold up and chat ! sometimes origami, sometimes politics, children’s education … One of the things that helps me make crisp folds is a good folder. A few years ago I started making my own with hardwoods … being a member of DingFabrik Cologne has been very helpful !

I am an origami designer of Japanese origin living in France. I started creating in 2009. My first origami book Origamix theory & challenges was published in 2019 by Origami Shop. In general, I create figurative models of intermediate and complex level.
Matthieu Chicouène, Fox & Dinosaur
Duration : 1h30 ca
Model : Fox & minimalist dinosaur
Level : ***
Equipment :
bicolor kami or metallic silk (20×20 cm)
In the last year of hydrogeology studies (groundwater + pebbles), I have been bending regularly for about 5 years. I like models of medium complexity, geometric, with a pleasant fold sequence and / or which play on color changes. Hideo Komatsu’s owl and Román Díaz’s Toy Horse remain my favorite models. My few creations are simple models, mainly animals, where I try to use the two colors of the paper to quickly obtain characteristic features.

Hubert Villeneuve, Volcano
Duration : 1 h 30
Model : Volcan
Level : ****
Equipment : square bicolor (> 30 cm). sandwich paper recommended. Glue useful.
My name is Hubert Villeneuve, Canadian. For the past fifteen years, I have created more than 200 complex box-pleating origami models (orthogonal grid-based folding). My specialties are multiple : characters, 2D landscapes and objects. With each creation, I try to achieve at least a change in color and flexibility in the modeling. Like any origamist, I try to adhere to the basic rules (a single uncut square), but I will not hesitate to break them to achieve my ends.
Claire Landre, Inside Reverse Fold Cat
Duration : environ 1h
Model : Chat de Fumiaki Kawahata
Level : **
Equipment : bicolor square (15 cm).
As a child, I learned about the boat, the cocotte, the blast devil, Heaven and Hell … I didn’t know it was origami. In 1991, here I am in Tokyo, I brought back as a souvenir 3 small folding books, the famous « Color books ». They educated me as a folder, to the chagrin of those around me ! In 2006, I had the idea of typing The word into a search engine … I was snapped up and never got out, much to my delight. I regularly run workshops, I teach, but I’m not (yet?) A designer. I particularly like the elegance of the model and also the efficiency of a sequence of folds. Thank you origami for letting me come out of my shell.
Jonathan Rebouillat, Fox
Duration : 1 h 15

Pierre-Yves Gallard, Grand Vizir
Duration : 1 h
Model : Grand Vizir de P.-Y. Gallard
Level : ***
Equipment : 2 square of bicolor kami (15 cm et 10 cm)
I discovered origami 6 or 7 years ago, initially through videos on YouTube, then through models by Jun Maekawa, Hideo Komatsu and Roman Diaz. After a few years of solitary folding, I participated in my first convention (OORAA 2018) and I joined the Orilyon club in the process. Encouraged by the members of the club, I started to create my own models, as a folder I am particularly drawn to the very stylized figurative models, with simple geometric lines, like the fish of Beth Johnson, the lion of Ashimura Shunichi or Oriol Esteve’s raccoon. As a designer, I strive to give personality to my models : more than realism, it is expressiveness that I am looking for.
MFPP, Open Stage
Duration : 2 h
Model : Good question !
Level : *-****
Equipement : Various papier (square & A4)
In the tradition of the Rue Coriolis Online sessions, the MFPP invites its members and meeting participants to teach their favorite short models (teaching time 10 – 15 ’). Creators or folders, this is an opportunity for everyone to share their folds and get started in online education ! Do you want to get started during this session ? Preferably send a message to the association before June 11 to prepare the order of passage and indicate the papers to be provided to the participants. If there is time, the presents can be added.

Notes

  • A workshop may be replaced by another of equivalent duration and difficulty, particularly in the event of a technical breakdown. In this case, the paper required will be the same or standard.
  • You can cancel your participation free of charge by sending an email to the association until Thursday June 10 at 9 p.m. (UTC + 2). After this period, the entrance fee cannot be refunded.
  • Participation in the Virtual Folding Meetings implies compliance with the code of conduct.
